D&AD Shift with Google in London is a free, industry led night school programme for new creatives. If you are over 18 and don’t have a degree-level qualification, Shift is for you.

Through Shift, in partnership with adidas and supported by Disney, giffgaff, Here Design and Penguin, D&AD aims to create an accessible space for self-made talent to learn from and connect with the industry, establish a network and find job opportunities.

London applications are now open.

To be eligible for Shift, you must:
– Be over 18 years old
– Be a UK resident
– Not hold a degree level qualification (BA or equivalent) in any subject
– Not be currently enrolled in a degree level qualification (BA or equivalent) in any subject
– Be interested in a career in the design, advertising and creative industries
– Be able to commit to 2 evening classes per week, plus occasional weekends from June – September
– If shortlisted, be able to attend a Challenge Day on 17 May.

What is D&AD Shift with Google?

You are the thinkers, the doers, sometimes undoers, you ask why and just won’t comply, you’re the makers, breakers, talkers, shouters, defying all doubters – you keep refining your craft after the six hundredth draft and never ever stop. 

We’re not pretending this is easy. Shift is an intensive night school for the ambitious, for the wild, for those wanting to disrupt and construct. You’ll have access to industry-leading pros at the top of their game, guiding you and like-minded others through real briefs, decoding the industry one byte at a time. 

We’re challenging you to grow, whilst challenging the industry to shift where it looks for its groundbreakers. We’re bridging the gap between raw talent, and the skills vital for the changing world.

You won’t just leave Shift with the network of big names and even bigger brands, but the knowledge and tools to navigate the road ahead.

Applications for 2021 now open

If you’re over 18, looking to get into the creative industry and do not have a university degree, you can apply for D&AD Shift.

During the night school, we cover key skills useful to a creative career in the world of advertising and design such as design, copywriting, art direction, strategy and production to name a few.

We want to see three examples of the sort of creative work that you already do. This might be design, a campaign concept, a piece of artwork, a video, some photographs, lyrics, a story… it’s up to you what you share with us.
